Prior to coming to St. Stephen's, Canon Jonathan LLoyd was a parish priest in the Diocese of Canterbury, England, and an Assistant Director of Ordinands for the diocese. He was ordained in the Diocese of Southwark in south London in 1990, following a career in professional Social Work working with children and families. He is a Canon Emeritus of the Church of England Diocese in Europe, and served as Archdeacon of Germany and Northern Europe and Anglican Chaplain in the Kingdom of Denmark, based in Copenhagen. Before moving to Denmark, he was in the Diocese of Bath and Wells for 12 years, as Senior Chaplain to the University of Bath and then Rector of St Stephen's Church, Bath. In Southwark Diocese, Canon LLoyd served in a senior diocesan post as Diocesan Director of Social Responsibility, leading a department of 65 staff and working with church leaders on community engagement and development across London. Canon LLoyd is a former Chair of the Conference of European University Chaplains, and has been elected three times to the General Synod of the Church of England. He is is postulant Tertiary of the Society of Saint Francis, and a trained Spiritual Director. Canon LLoyd is married to Sue, a Senior Pediatric Occupational Therapist, and they have two adult daughters, Emma (27) and Sarah (25). Emma is a teacher and Sarah is a sustainable designer.
